Located 2500 ft above sea-level, the hills of Panchalimedu are clean, pure and unpolluted. Being in this fresh and crisp atmosphere is in itself detoxifying and rejuvenating.
It’s the perfect place to take a day off with your family. About 10 km from Kuttikkanam along the Kottayam – Kumily road you will find this well-preserved piece of nature. There is a ticket counter maintained by the DTPC with a nominal entry free. The entry starts at 6 am and closes by 6.30 pm. A cafeteria and restrooms are facilitated just near the entrance.
Panchalimedu is more of a soft hiking spot rather than a hiking trail that can be completed by elderly people and children. It is the perfect place to take a day off with your family. From Panchalimedu, one can see Mundakayam, Ponkunnam, Kanjirapally, and Erumely towns on the west side, while Parunthumpara Hills and Periyar Tiger Reserve on the east.
