Vagaman, located on the Kottayam-Idukki border, is the perfect place to celebrate Kerala’s summers and monsoons. There are many things to enjoy here like Mottakunnu, waterfalls, grasslands, pine groves, offroading places, lake, ashram and view points. On the way here, Illikal stone, Marmala waterfall etc. can also be seen. Vagamon is a great place to hang out with friends and camp for a night. National Geographic Traveler has also featured in the list of top 10 tourist destinations in the world.

Spread across two taluks of Kottayam and Idukki districts, Vagaman is a green beautiful land that attracts everyone with its natural beauty and pleasant climate. Sundrabhumi is 1100 meters above sea level.These bald hills are standing tall in the fog, attracting tourists, filmmakers and wedding photographers. Even in summer, the high temperature here ranges from ten to twenty-three degrees Celsius. The most attractive thing for tourists is the weather.

It’s only been a century since the outside world began to notice the hills dotted with tea plantations and pine trees. The climate here is cool for most of the year. It is easy to travel from here to all the major tourist spots of Idukki district. So you can enjoy the beauty of Idukki in just one trip. The Department of Tourism has arranged essential amenities for the tourists here while maintaining the uniqueness of nature and not promoting too much civilization. There is always a very calm atmosphere here. Tamam Para, Murugan Hills, Vagaman Kurisu Mala etc. There are many factors that attract tourists here… Paragliding, trekking, rock climbing, etc. are also arranged here for tourists.

Vagamon has been voted as one of the best paragliding sites in Asia. Also since 2006 International Paragliding Festival has been organized at Wagaman. This program is jointly organized by Kochi-based Adventurous Sports and Sustainable Tourism Academy (ASSTA) and Kerala Tourism Department.

Thangal  Paara is a place where rock formations with very different formations and beautiful views come together. The tomb of Afghan Sufi Sheikh Fariduddin, who lived and died here 800 years ago, is located here. It is said that this rock, which is situated at a height of three thousand five hundred feet above the sea level, was very small earlier and was formed like this over time. Many people including believers and tourists come and go here.

It is a very beautiful place with natural beauty and climate. This place is also known as Suicide Point. Moopanpara is also a photo spot that attracts more tourists. This  Para is about seven kilometers away from Vagaman.

Standing at a height of 4000 feet above the sea level, this mountain is also known as the Nadunokki Mountain. In 1904, Thayil Esthapanachan saw a special light in this mountain, later it came to be known as Kurishumala. Kurishumala is another place that attracts tourists and believers alike. A small church is also located here.
